First Welland Canal (1829 - 1845)
Not much remains of the First Welland Canal as the locks were built from wood. Also much of the canal was used in the building of the Second Welland Canal. Below you will find pictures of the only remaining remnants of the First Welland Canal
Small Section of First Welland Canal -- Wellandvale, St.Catharines
A small distance away from lock two of the second canal, you will find a small leftover channel from the First Welland Canal. It really doesn't look like much but is still part of history anyway. If you are standing on the main bridge of Wellandvale, the next small bridge on your left in over the channel of the canal.

Lock Six -- Centennial Park, St.Catharines
Centennial Park is located off of Gale Crescent and Oakdale Avenue area of St.Catharines. The parking lot is located on Oakdale Avenue, behind the General Hospital. Park and head in to the park and head right, towards Geneva Street area. Keep your eye on the water, and eventually you will see a concrete structure in the water. It is under this concrete that lock six is located.
